Using Dexibi
Wake word & hands-free
Start commands by saying a phrase instead of pressing a shortcut. This page also documents Settings → Wake word.
How it works
- Voice activity detection runs on your PC and waits for speech. Silence is never sent anywhere.
- If Only my voice is on, speech that isn’t yours is dropped on your PC.
- Each spoken segment is transcribed by Dexibi Cloud and checked for the wake phrase. Segments without it are discarded immediately and never stored.
- The phrase is matched by how it sounds, so “Hey Dexi-bee” or “Dexibi,” still count, but unrelated speech doesn’t.
No repeats: if the same command is heard twice in quick succession, for example from an echo, it runs once.
Settings → Wake word
- Enable wake phrase
- In hands-free mode, Dexibi ignores speech that doesn’t start with the phrase.Default: Off

- Conversation mode
- After Dexibi replies or asks something, keep talking without saying the phrase again.Default: On
- Phrase
- The words that start a command. Pick something short and distinctive that you don’t say in normal conversation.Default: “Hey Dexibi”
- Follow-up window
- How long Dexibi keeps listening for a follow-up after it speaks (2–20 seconds).Default: 7 seconds
Also set Listening mode → Hands-free in Voice & microphone, and allow Cloud AI processing in Permissions.
Tips
- Set up Only my voice so the TV or a video call can’t trigger commands.
- If Dexibi misses the phrase, raise Sensitivity in Voice & microphone, or speak the phrase a little more clearly.
- Push-to-talk always works, even with hands-free off.
